Willis L. Mog

Willis L. Mog of O’Fallon, Illinois, died May 6, 2011 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital following a farm accident in Lebanon, Illinois. He was born in Ellsworth County, Kansas, on August 24, 1935.
Wil graduated from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1960 and entered the United States Air Force, where he served as a Judge Advocate in Alaska, Okinawa, England, Texas, Alabama, ultimately finishing his career at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. He retired as Lt. Colonel in 1985. He was a member of St. George’s Episcopal Church in Belleville, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Ruth, his parents, Rose (Bednasek) and Edward Mog and two brothers-in-law, Keith St. Pierre and David Scheffer.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy (Teeple) Mog, two sons, David, of Penrose, Colorado and Robert (Cathy) of Huntsville, Alabama and three grandchildren, Eric, Sarah, and Riley Mog, three sisters, Helen St. Pierre, Norma Bingham, and Connie Scheffer.
The family lived in Lebanon, Illinois where Wil opened his private Law Office and practiced there until 2005. He owned Molly’s Acre south of Lebanon where he had his garden and his beloved donkeys, Jennifer and Josie. He was an avid gardener, growing organic vegetables and often placing them in front of his office with a can for customers to place their money. He also loved sports, with a particular passion for the Kansas Jayhawks.
Memorial Services will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m. at St. George’s Episcopal Church, Belleville, IL.

Graveside service for Willis L. Mog will be Thursday, May 12, 2011, at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Mankato, Kansas, with Military Honors provided by McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard, Wichita, and V.F.W. Post No. 7830, Mankato, Kansas. Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas, was in charge of local services.

Memorials may be made to St. George’s Episcopal Church, Belleville, Illinois or People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
