Madeline H Nelson

Madeline (Harris) Nelson was born June 22, 1917 at Jewell, Kansas, the daughter of Willard and Ethel (Smith) Harris, and died June 13, 2011, at Alpine Care Center, Thornton, Colorado, at the age of 93 years, 11 months, and 21 days.

Madeline was one of four children, and the last of her family. She married Virgil Nelson, and to this union they had one daughter, Rita Louise. Madeline was a teacher in the public schools teaching K-6.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil,; daughter, Rita Louise; and three brothers, Nelson, Charles, and Russell Keith.

Madeline leaves to celebrate her life several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins and other relatives.

The family gathered at the Esbon Cemetery, Esbon, Kansas, on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Gerry Sharp officiating services. Interment followed the service in the cemetery. Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas, was in charge of local arrangements.
