John Blaine Turner was born June 21, 1955, in Concordia, Kansas, to Warren Jack and Delila Jane (Studer) Turner, and died November 19, 2011, at his home in Mankato, Kansas, at the age of 56 years, 4 months and 29 days.
John was known better as J.B. Turner. He attended school in Mankato and graduated from Mankato High School. He married Mary Thurber in November of 1982 in Belleville, Kansas and later they divorced. J.B. had many jobs from Mankato Big A Auto Parts to farm labor for many area farmers. When J.B. worked, he was a very talented worker, and sincere in getting the task done right and to perfection. He was also known for the love of life. He always had a joke and a smile to lighten everyone’s day.
J.B. was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his two daughters – Macy Cisneros of Lincoln, Nebraska and Allison and husband, Whitney Boyles of Lincoln, Nebraska; two sons – John and wife Katie Turner of Hastings, Nebraska and Michael Turner of Superior, Nebraska; two sisters – Chris and husband Robert Stites of Plano, Texas, and Catherine Turner of Sonora, Kentucky; four brothers – Paul Turner of Dallas, Texas, Robert and wife, Susan Turner of Crete, Nebraska, Mike and Kellie Turner of Nice Ville, Florida, and Mark Turner of Hastings, Nebraska; three grandchildren – Corbin, Tristan, and Curtis; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A mass of Christian burial will be (was) held, Friday, November 25, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., at the St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Mankato, Kansas, with Father George Chalbhagam officiating. Music will be (was) performed by Mrs. Karen Boden, organist and Mrs. Sherri Jeffery, cantor. Casket bearers will be (were) Fred Eilert, John Harvey, Rick Lehrling, Marvin Loomis, Keith Roe, and Harrell Roe. Interment will be (was) in St. Theresa’s Catholic Cemetery, Mankato, Kansas. The family suggests memorials to St. Jude’s or to a memorial marker for J.B. in care of the Melby Mortuary. Visitation will be (was) Wednesday, November 23, 2001 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, November 24, 2011, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas.
