Ethel M. (Gregory) Ruddick was born March 28, 1923, in Esbon, Kansas, to Victor and Alice Gregory. Ethel went to be with the Lord, on February 12, 2012, at Kennewick, Washington. She graduated from Smith Center High School in 1952, and North Central Nursing School, Beloit, Kansas, in 1972. She worked in hospitals, emergency rooms and doctor’s offices until retiring in 1993.
She is survived by Stephen and wife, Lin Rose of Burke, Virginia, Kevin and wife Joan Rose of Clewston, Florida, Patricia and husband, Ali Hashemi of East Wenatchee, Washington, Lee and wife Rini Jackson of Richland, Washington, and Elaine and husband, Kevin Crook of Denver, Colorado; sisters – Marie Earnest of Pueblo, Colorado, and Ginger Pletcher of Smith Center, Kansas; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nephews and cousins.
Ethel, known as Rosie since 1956, was very active in everything she tried. From the High School tumbling team, editor of the Rom Tom School newspaper and artist of the 1952 school year book.
She worked many jobs to take care of her family. Her greatest joy was volunteering for Kennewick Eternal Order of Eagles for over 30 years. After retirement she was Queen Mom of the Red Hat Eagles Society which she started in 2005.
Ethel M. “Rosie” (Gregory) Ruddick was laid to rest on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the Esbon Cemetery, Esbon, Kansas, with Pastor Gerry Sharp officiating. Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas, was in charge of arrangements.
