Ronald W. Clegg was born In Beloit, Kansas on May 19, 1948, and passed away on Sunday, March 9th, 2008, in Delaware, Ohio, at the age of 59 years, 9 months, and 20 days.

Ron was the older of two children born to Arden and Ruth (Binggeli) Clegg. He was a member of the Christian Church, and attended school in Mankato Kansas, graduating with the MHS Class of 1966. Following graduation, he attended what was then known as the North Central Kansas Vocational Technical School in Beloit, Kansas, completing a program in Automotive Mechanics.

Although he became employed as a mechanic shortly thereafter, Ron’s lifelong career as a long-distance trucker began in April, 1970. when he moved to Loveland, Colorado. In January, 1998, he began his current employment with Zeitner & Sons Trucking Company in Omaha, Nebraska. At the time of his death, his life’s journey spanned several million miles and 37 years. He was on-the-road for weeks at a time, and always looked forward to his monthly visits home. Ron was blessed with a strong work ethic, kind heart, and generous spirit; he was happiest when sharing with others. He had a sincere fondness for animals and children, and was willing to stand for those things he truly believed in. His memory will always remain with those whose lives he touched.

Preceding him in death was his father, Arden, on April 11, 1997. Survivors are his mother, Ruth of the home, and sister, Donna King of Manhattan, Kansas. He is also survived by a host of relatives and friends.

A celebration of Ronald W. Clegg’s life was held on April 5, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., at the Christian Church, Mankato, Kansas, with Pastor Thaddues Hinkle officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Pat Grout, organist, and Mr. Kenny Rhea, soloist. Inurnment followed in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Mankato, Kansas. The family suggests memorials to Mankato Christian Church or St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital. Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas, was in charge of arrangements.
