Karen Lynne Kyte of Silver Springs, Maryland, was born to Clarence Oliver, Sr. and Dollie H. ( Howell) Kyte, on May 14, 1939, at Fort Worth, Texas, and died Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Holy Cross Hospital, in Silver Springs, Maryland, at the age of 75 years, 1 month and 1 day.
She was a middle school teacher for 32 years in Montgomery County Maryland. Karen was a avid crafter. She would make projects and was very generous gave them away. December was a special month for Karen. She would count down to December 26, and fly to Los Angeles, California to donate time to the City of Torrance, to help with their entry into the Tournament of Rose Parade. She worked on floats from 1998 to 2010, and was honored on 2005 with being on the float with her niece, Marinia.
Karen was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Oliver Kyte, Sr. on November 26, 2004.
She will be missed by her mother, Dollie H. Kyte, of Silver Springs, Maryland; her brother, C.O. “Ollie” Kyte, Jr, and his wife, Dawn of Bradenton, Florida; two nieces – Cindie and Marinia; nephew - Jamie and wife, Jennifer; two great-nephews – Thomas, and Robert; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service was held on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at the Collins Funeral Home in Silver Springs, Maryland, and on Monday, July 28, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at the Melby Mortuary Chapel, Mankato, Kansas, with Pastor Gerry Sharp officiating. Interment followed the service in the Burr Oak Cemetery, Burr Oak, Kansas, beside her father. Memorial donations in Karen’s Honor may be left in care of the Mortuary. Online condolences may be left at www.melbymortuary.com. Melby Mortuary, 402 N. High Street, Mankato, Kansas, was in charge of arrangements.
