Edward Lee McEntee was born November 13, 1940, at Kansas City, Missouri, to Edward E. and Esther (Johnson) McEntee, and died Monday, October 27, 2008, at his home in Burr Oak, Kansas, at the age of 67 years, 11 months, and 14 days.
Edward lived thirty four years in the Kansas City area. Where he was educated, and employed at Creacon Manufacturing and later Aero Drapery. Ed was transfer to St. Louis, Missouri, by Arrow Drapery and worked there for six years, before moving to Burr Oak, Kansas. Ed was a self employed in several service related business. He also likes to do roofing on his building, and in his younger years he enjoyed fishing. Ed was a supporter of the stock marker and he enjoyed watching the boards move during the trading day. Horse racing was another enjoyable pastime for Ed. As a boy Ed was active in the Boy Scouts of America.
Ed met and married Ruth Garlock on April 18, 1960, at Kansas City, Missouri. To this union, five children were born.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, David; and a sister, Betty Ann.
Ed is survived by his loving wife, Ruth of the home; two daughters, Wanda and husband, Dan Young of Overland Park, Kansas, and Julie and husband, Larry Havens of Burr Oak, Kansas; two sons, Joe and wife, Nancy McEntee of Kearney, Nebraska, and Rick and wife, Sheila McEntee of Burr Oak, Kansas; ten grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one step-great-grandson; three sisters, Mary Horning of Kansas City, Missouri, Jean Myers of Gladstone, Missouri, and Judy and husband Don Ragsdale of Kansas City, Missouri; three brothers, Robert and wife, Jodie McEntee of Kansas City, Missouri, John and wife, Donna McEntee of Lees Summit, Missouri, and Dan and wife, Jan McEntee of Independence, Missouri; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Vigil services for Edward Lee McEntee were held October 31, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. with Father George Chalbhagam officiating. Rosary was held Saturday, November 1, 2008, at 10:00 at the Mortuary, and funeral mass was given on Saturday, November 1, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., at the St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Mankato, Kansas, with Father George Chalbhagam, officiating. Servers were Joel and Aaron Broeckelman. Music was provided by Karen Boden, organist, and Sherri Jeffery, song leader. Casket bearers were: Christopher McEntee, Rick McEntee, Jr., John McEntee, Jr., Don Ragsdale, PJ Garst, and Travis Garst. Honorary casket bearers were: Collin Young, Robert McEntee, John McEntee, and Dan McEntee. Interment was in the Burr Oak Cemetery, Burr Oak, Kansas. The family suggests memorial to: American Cancer Society, or Solomon Valley Hospice. Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas was in charge of arrangements.
