Boyd H. Ritter, 85, died Friday, March 12, 2010. He was born to Harry and Anna (Gibeau) Ritter, September 8, 1924 in rural Lebanon, KS.
In 1944 he was drafted into the army and served in Germany, France, and England as a PFC in WWII with an honorable discharge in 1946. On May 19, 1946 he married Joyce Keller. He had many occupations prior to finding his true calling as a city police officer for the towns of Kensington and Lewis, Kansas for many years. After retiring from law enforcement, he used his woodworking skills to create treasures for his family and friends.
Survivors include wife, Joyce, of the home, sons, Gary, of York, Nebraska, Larry and wife Linda, of Hill City, South Dakota, and daughter, Tonja Westerman and husband Larry of Kensington, Kansas, sister, Sharyl Patterson and husband Louie of Seward, Nebraska, seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, his sister, Belle, and a daughter-in-law, Sandy.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 20, at Odessa cemetery, rural Esbon, Kansas. Memorials are suggested to the Fort Dodge Soldiers Home in Dodge City, Kansas, where he resided for the last 18 months.
