Austin James Montague, Stratton, Colorado, was born to Derek Montague and Julie (Calhoun) Montague on August 26, 1995, in Beloit, Kansas. He departed this world on August 22, 2019, in Stratton, Colorado, at 23 years of age.
From a very early age his love of horses was apparent to all his family and friends. Sometimes it was a love/hate relationship, depending on the circumstances. Growing up Austin also enjoyed hunting, fishing, rodeoing, and spending time with family and friends. For seven years, he was involved with 4-H, beginning as a member of Southeast Coyotes and later with the Webber Wide Awake Club. Throughout high school years, he was a member of the Pike Valley FFA and graduated in 2014.
During high school and shortly after, Austin worked on several farms in Kansas and Nebraska. Then he started working for Premium Feeders and Limestone Feeders both in Scandia. Austin found the fit for a cowboy like himself with 4M Feeders in Stratton, Colorado. 4-M Feeders and Cody Beeson became his second family.
Austin is survived by his loving family and many special friends.
