Carol Diane Cosand, age, 81, formerly of Mankato, KS, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2026 at Seasons Health and Rehab, St. George, UT. She was born on November 6, 1944 in Wichita, KS to George & Iris (Calahan) Cosand.
She graduated from Burr Oak High School in 1962 and attended Mary Lanning Hospital School of Nursing in 1865. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1971 from Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS and a master’s degree in administration of nursing science in 1982 from Boston University, Boston, MA.
She was employed by Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME for 20 years as the Manager of Nursing Systems and Information. She returned to her hometown of Burr Oak, KS in 1993 where she worked as the Director of Nursing at the Jewell County Hospital until she retired due to medical conditions.
Carol has lived in Hastings, NE, Billings, MT, Tucson, AZ, Hays, KS, Scarborough, MA, Portland, ME and Burr Oak, KS. Her hobbies included baking, cross stitch, knitting, scissor art, community projects, work groups, miti mites baseball, raising animals, landscaping, gardening, redecorating, sewing and reading. One of her favorite things was granola cereal.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George & Iris and a brother, Gary Cosand.
She is survived by her son, Curtiss Anderson (Megan), Pine Valley, UT; brother Steve Cosand (Tammy); grandchildren, Alyssa Dudley (Russell), Quentin, Trinity Rice & 1 great granddaughter, Delilah Miera & many other relatives and friends.
It was Carol’s wishes to be cremated and memorial services will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Burr Oak Community Church, Burr Oak, KS.
