Darrell G. Claycamp was born May 5, 1937 in Soldier, Kansas to Emil and Inez (Diers) Claycamp and passed away August 17, 2020 at Salina Reginal Health Center in Salina, Kansas at the age of 83 years.
Darrell was a 1956 graduate of Mankato High School. Shortly after graduating high school he joined the National Guard. He then went to Boise, Idaho to learn and pursue his career as a painting contractor.
He married the love of his life, Emma Colby, on March 22, 1965,
He was a member of the Appaloosa Horse Club and Mankato Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Darrell enjoyed raising appaloosas, watching horse races and any sports played by both KU and K-State. He especially enjoyed watching and attending his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s school events.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Emma; daughter, Gina Bulthaup (Mike) and sons, Nathan Bulthaup (Jacque) and their children: Kale, Jackson, Ashlynn & Wren; and Nicolas Bulthaup all of Manhattan, Kansas; sisters, Lois Blass, Beloit and Leota McCarthy, Manhattan; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Curtis Lee Claycamp; brother, Wilbur Claycamp and 2 sisters, Louella Brunner and Kathy Rines.
Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, August 21, 2020 at the Mankato Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mankato Kansas with Pastor Dennis Beckman officiating. Visitation will be held at 10:00 am ~ 11:00 am Friday, August 21, 2020 at the Mankato Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Mankato, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association in c/o Melby Mortuary, PO Box 384, Mankato, KS. 66956. Online condolences may be left at www.melbymortuary.com.
