David Lynn Fullerton, 76, of Mankato, Kansas, passed away in Kearney, Nebraska on September 25, 2025. He was born in Concordia, Kansas on November 7th, 1948 to William Jennings Fullerton and Ruby (Hancock) Fullerton.
David attended Montrose High School until the school closed before his senior year. He graduated from Mankato High School in 1966.
Throughout his life, he worked in construction, owned a gas station/auto shop called Dave’s Standard Service, drove a truck OTR, and was Jewell County Sheriff until he retired in 2010. He was a member of the Kansas Army National Guard for 33 years.
He married Mary Sue Jensen of Mankato, Kansas in 1973. They were married for 21 years. Their union was blessed with two children: Crystal Sue and William James.
David enjoyed bowling, coin collecting, horse races and traveling. He and his daughter Crystal enjoyed many trips to Hawaii in recent years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruby Fullerton, his son, William James Fullerton, siblings Bernice Fullhart, Neva Wharton, Roy Fullerton, Don Fullerton, Laverne Fullerton, Dean Fullerton, Brenda Moser, Joyce McElroy, two infant siblings, Debbie Fullerton and Lyle Fullerton and three stillborn brothers.
He is survived by his daughter Crystal Fullerton, sisters Norma Eitzman, Yvonne Blair, Claudine “Denie” Fullerton, Phyllis Olmstead, and many other relatives.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery, Mankato, Kansas on October 7th, 2025, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jim Rice officiating. Visitation will be at Melby Mortuary on October 6th, 2025, from 1 to 6 p.m. The family strongly requests memorials in lieu of flowers.
