Edna Thronson

Edna Irene (McCleery) Thronson, 90, of Mankato, Kansas passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026. She was born on September 15, 1936, to John and Lona (Brown) McCleery in rural Jewell County, Kansas.

She attended school is Esbon, Kansas and graduated from Esbon High School in 1956.

On February 25, 1961, she married Carroll Thronson at the Christian Church in Esbon, Kansas. This union brought four children: Carla, Douglas, Dwight, and David.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents John and Lona McCleery, her husband, Carroll Thronson, and her sister Othella Davis.

She is survived by her children Carla Ost of Superior, NE, Douglas Thronson of Wichita, KS, Dwight Thronson (Kristen) of Mankato, KS, and David Thronson of Mankato, KS; grandchildren Renea Ost Fuller, Eric Ost, Katie Thronson, and Jordan Thronson; and siblings Lucille Cavels of Lincoln, NE, Warren McCleery of Smith Center, KS, and Jeanice Daebey of Cawker City, KS.

A graveside service will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dennis Beckmann officiating. Memorials may be sent to Solomon Valley Hospice in care of Melby Mortuary, P.O. Box 384, Mankato, KS 66956.
