Marie Ilene (Sipe) Logan, 83, was born on November 23, 1941, to Clomer Mahlon and Winona May (Huffman) Sipe, near Ionia in Jewell County, Kansas. She passed away August 27, 2025, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings, Nebraska.
At the age of five, the family moved to the Montrose, Kansas area. Marie attended Montrose Grade School and graduated as valedictorian of Montrose Rural High School with the Class of 1959. In her youth, she was active in 4-H and the local Methodist youth group. She also took piano lessons. Marie enjoyed playing the piano for many years. As an adult, she found great joy in crocheting and knitting afghans, many of which were lovingly shared with family and friends—and are still in use today.
Marie was baptized April 22, 1956, and joined the Montrose Methodist Church. She later transferred her membership to Harmony United Methodist Church in Mankato, Kansas, where she was involved in the United Methodist Women and participated in the Rebecca and Sarah Circles. In retirement, she became a member of the Mankato Garden Club.
Marie worked as the billing clerk for Jewell-Mitchell REC for 30 years. After its consolidation, she continued working for Rolling Hills REC for an additional two years, retiring in December 2004.
On February 19, 1961, Marie married William Robert Logan, of Formoso, Kansas. To this union, two daughters were born – Vicki Marie and Cynthia Louise – who were her pride and joy. Marie and Bill also had a son, William Dwayne, who died at birth.
Marie was immensely proud of her grandson, Luke Wilson Cramer. One of her greatest joys was watching him perform with the Boston Crusaders. She cherished the opportunities to travel to competitions across the Midwest to see him march.
Marie is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bill Logan; her daughters, Vicki (Carl) Cramer of Miramar, Florida, and Cindy (Carrol Ubel) of Manhattan, Kansas; and her grandson, Luke (Rebecca) Cramer of Kissimmee, Florida.
She is also survived by her siblings, Mary Ann Bates and Ernest (Micki) Sipe.
