Martha Jane Jacobs

May 19, 1934 — May 6, 2026

Mankato, KS

Martha “Jane” (Hill) Jacobs, age 91, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026, at Park Villa Nursing Home in Clyde. She was born on May 19, 1934, in Stark, the daughter of Charles M. Hill, Sr. and Jesse (Daniels) Hill.

Martha graduated from Stark High School in 1947 and later attended Pittsburg State University, where she studied business for four years and graduated with honors.

After earning her degree, Martha taught typing classes at Marquette High School. She later worked for SRS from 1967 to 1984 before retiring from the Youth Center in Beloit, where she faithfully worked from 1984 until 2002.

In 1966, Martha married the love of her life, Leo Jacobs. A few years later, they lovingly adopted their only son, Roger. Martha always placed her family at the center of her life, and nothing brought her more joy than caring for those she loved. That love only grew stronger when she became a grandmother.

In 1969, Martha and Leo moved east of Jewell, where they built their family farm together. Martha was the true heart of the farm — feeding cattle, preparing unforgettable field meals, and keeping everyone organized and cared for.

In her later years, Martha enjoyed knitting and cross-stitching. She took great pride in her beautiful handiwork and even entered several projects in the Kansas State Fair, where she earned ribbons for her impressive talent. She also loved traveling and making special memories on vacations with her cousin, Micki.

Martha was a devoted member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Shriners, and several church-related clubs throughout her life. Her faith, kindness, and servant’s heart touched many people over the years.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Jesse Hill, brother, Charles Jr., husband Leo Verne Jacobs, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She is survived by son, Roger and wife Darla of Jamestown Kansas grandchildren, Cyranda and Bo Ready of Wamego, Kansas, Skyler and Starleen Jacobs of Concordia Kansas, and Makayla Jacobs of Jamestown Kansas. Great grandchildren include, Rochelle, Keisha, Ashlynn, RosaLee Ready, Kaysen Jacobs, Taylor Pierce, Joel Fuller and Jaxson Thompson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Martha and Leo eventually retired to Mankato, where they enjoyed the simpleness of life together.

Martha’s wishes were to be cremated.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the Jamestown Community Church in Jamestown, Kansas with Pastor Randy Whitley officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Montrose, Kansas.
