Nora Frances Decker, age 89, of Burr Oak, KS, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society, Superior, NE. She was born on February 10, 1931 in Brocton, IL to Harry and Lillie (Whitlock) Hanks.
Nora graduated from Brocton High School in 1949 and attended Eastern Illinois State College. Nora was introduced by a cousin to Roger Decker, who was a mechanic at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, IL. They married on September 21, 1952 in Brocton, IL, and moved to Roger’s family farm outside Burr Oak.
She enjoyed collecting antiques, cooking, sewing, needlework, and traveling with friends.
Nora was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Burr Oak United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Kirchner (Wil), Elizabeth, CO and Kathleen Stratmoen (Paul), Littleton, CO; 4 Grandchildren; and 8 Great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roger S. M. Decker, her parents and siblings, Helen Hanks, Pauline Hanks, Mae (Hanks) Wilcoxin and June (Hanks) Cratz.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 1-4 p.m. at the Melby Mortuary, Mankato.
A graveside memorial service will be held Thursday, June 25 at 10:00am at Burr Oak Cemetery with Pastor Les Ellis officiating. Memorial contributions will be determined at a later date. For online condolences, please visit www.melbymortuary.com.
